Regarding Trade That Is Mixed With Swearing And Idle Talk
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي غَرَزَةَ، قَالَ كُنَّا فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم نُسَمَّى السَّمَاسِرَةَ فَمَرَّ بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَسَمَّانَا بِاسْمٍ هُوَ أَحْسَنُ مِنْهُ فَقَالَ " يَا مَعْشَرَ التُّجَّارِإِنَّ الْبَيْعَ يَحْضُرُهُ اللَّغْوُ وَالْحَلِفُ فَشُوبُوهُ بِالصَّدَقَةِ " .
Translation
Narrated Qays ibn AbuGharazah
We were in the era of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) called the samasirah (brokers), and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) passed by us and called us by a name that is better than it. He said: "O company of merchants, indeed trade is attended by idle talk and swearing, so mix it with charity.">
