Regarding A Slave Woman Who Was Married To Slave A Or Free Man And Then Freed
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ زَوْجَ، بَرِيرَةَ كَانَ عَبْدًا أَسْوَدَ يُسَمَّى مُغِيثًافَخَيَّرَهَا - يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم - وَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَعْتَدَّ .
Translation
The husband of Barirah was a black slave called Mughith. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, gave her a choice, and commanded her to observe the waiting period.
