Amr ibn Muhajir reported on the authority of his father
Asma' bint Yazid ibn al-Sakan al-Ansariyyah was divorced during the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and at that time there was no prescribed waiting period for a divorced woman. So Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed the verse regarding the waiting period for divorce when Asma' was divorced, and she was the first woman about whom the waiting period was revealed concerning divorced women.
