Sunan Abi Dawud 3213
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الصِّدِّيقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ إِذَا وَضَعَ الْمَيِّتَ فِي الْقَبْرِ قَالَ " بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَعَلَى سُنَّةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " . هَذَا لَفْظُ مُسْلِمٍ .
Translation
Ibn ‘Umar reported that when the Prophet ﷺ placed a deceased person in the grave, he said, ‘In the name of Allah and according to the way of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.’ This is Muslim’s wording.
