‘Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us: ‘Abd al-Hamid—meaning al-Himmani—narrated to us: al-A‘mash narrated to us, from Muslim, from Masruq, from ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, who said: When the Prophet (ﷺ) heard something about a man, he would not say, ‘What is the matter with so-and-so, that he says this?’ Rather, he would say, ‘What is the matter with some people, that they say such-and-such?’
