The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade shighar.
Musaddad added in his report: I said to Nafi', "What is shighar?" He replied, "A man gives his daughter in marriage to a man on the condition that the latter gives his daughter in marriage to him, with no dower between them; and a man gives his sister in marriage to a man on the condition that the latter gives his sister in marriage to him, with no dower between them."
