Abdullah ibn Mas'ud was brought information regarding a man, so they differed in opinion regarding the case for a month, or he said several times. He said: "I say regarding it that she is entitled to a dower like the dowers of her women, with no deficiency and no excess, and she has the right of inheritance, and upon her is the waiting period. If it is correct, it is from Allah, and if it is a mistake, it is from me and from Satan, while Allah and His Messenger are free from blame."
Then some men from Ashja' stood up, among them al-Jarrah and Abu Sinan, and said: "O Ibn Mas'ud, we bear witness that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave a ruling concerning us regarding Birwa' bint Washiq, and her husband was Hilal ibn Murrah al-Ashja'i, exactly as you have ruled."
He said: Abdullah ibn Mas'ud rejoiced greatly when his judgment coincided with the judgment of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).
