The Prophet (ﷺ) said to a man: "Would you like me to marry you to so-and-so?" He said: "Yes." And he said to the woman: "Would you like me to marry you to so-and-so?" She said: "Yes." So one of them married the other, and the man entered upon her (consummated the marriage) and did not fix any dower for her, nor did he give her anything. And he was among those who witnessed al-Hudaybiyyah, and those who witnessed al-Hudaybiyyah had a share in Khaybar. When death approached him, he said: "Verily, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) married me to so-and-so, and I did not fix a dower for her, nor did I give her anything, and I call you to witness that I have given her from my dower my share in Khaybar." So she took a share and sold it for one hundred thousand.
Abu Dawud said: Umar ibn al-Khattab added—and his hadith is more complete—at the beginning of the hadith: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "The best of marriage is the easiest of it." And he said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to the man, then he drove its meaning.
Abu Dawud said: It is feared that this hadith has been pasted/attached, because the matter is other than this.
