The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "He who has intercourse with his wife through her anus is accursed."

Anal intercourse with one's wife is strictly prohibited (haram) in Islamic law. The severe wording "accursed" indicates this is among the major sins that incur Allah's wrath and curse.

Classical scholars explain this prohibition is based on multiple principles: preservation of natural intercourse ordained by Allah, protection from harm and disease, maintaining the dignity of marital relations, and following the prophetic guidance for pure procreation.

Imam Al-Nawawi states this act violates the natural purpose of marriage and constitutes disobedience to Allah's command regarding permissible sexual relations.

Spiritual Consequences

Being "accursed" means being distanced from Allah's mercy and blessings. This severe warning emphasizes the gravity of violating marital boundaries established by Islamic law.

Scholars note that repentance is required for such acts, with sincere remorse and firm resolution never to return to this prohibited practice.

Marital Relations in Islam

Islam encourages loving intimacy between spouses while maintaining clear boundaries of permissibility. Permissible sexual relations are those conducted through the vaginal passage only.

The prohibition applies equally to both spouses - it is forbidden for the husband to request this and for the wife to permit it.
