Sunan Abi Dawud 4696
Musaddad narrated to us: Yahya narrated to us, from ‘Uthman ibn Ghiyath, who said: ‘Abd Allah ibn Buraydah narrated to me, from Yahya ibn Ya‘mar and Humayd ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman. He said: We met ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Umar and mentioned to him divine decree and what people were saying about it. He related something similar. He added: A man from Muzaynah or Juhaynah asked, ‘Messenger of Allah, is what we do something already past and gone, or something newly beginning now?’ He replied, ‘It is something already past and gone.’ The man—or some of the people—then asked, ‘What, then, is the point of action?’ He replied, ‘Those destined for Paradise are made to find easy the deeds of the people of Paradise, and those destined for the Fire are made to find easy the deeds of the people of the Fire.’
