Mahmud ibn Khalid narrated to us: al-Firyabi narrated to us, from Sufyan, who said: ‘Alqamah ibn Marthad narrated to us, from Sulayman ibn Buraydah, from Ibn Ya‘mar, with this hadith, with additions and omissions. He said: ‘What is Islam?’ He replied, ‘Establishing prayer, giving zakah, performing pilgrimage to the House, fasting the month of Ramadan, and bathing after major ritual impurity.’ Abu Dawud said: ‘Alqamah was a Murji’ite.’
