Sunan Abi Dawud 4712

‘Abd al-Wahhab ibn Najdah narrated to us: Baqiyyah narrated to us. (Another chain:) Musa ibn Marwan al-Raqqi and Kathir ibn ‘Ubayd al-Madhhiji narrated to us. They said: Muhammad ibn Harb narrated to us—the meaning is the same—from Muhammad ibn Ziyad, from ‘Abd Allah ibn Abi Qays, from ‘A’ishah, who said: I asked, ‘Messenger of Allah, what of the children of the believers?’ He replied, ‘They belong with their fathers.’ I asked, ‘Even though they have done no deeds?’ He replied, ‘Allah knows best what they would have done.’ I asked, ‘Messenger of Allah, what of the children of the polytheists?’ He replied, ‘They belong with their fathers.’ I asked, ‘Even though they have done no deeds?’ He replied, ‘Allah knows best what they would have done.’
