Sunan Abi Dawud 4731

Musa ibn Isma‘il narrated to us: Hammad narrated to us. (Another chain:) ‘Ubayd Allah ibn Mu‘adh narrated to us: My father narrated to us: Shu‘bah narrated to us—the meaning is the same—from Ya‘la ibn ‘Ata’, from Waki‘ ibn ‘Adus—Musa said: Ibn ‘Adus—from Abu Razin—Musa said: al-‘Uqayli—who said: I asked, ‘Messenger of Allah, will each of us see his Lord?’ Ibn Mu‘adh’s version adds, ‘alone with Him on the Day of Resurrection? And what sign of that is there in His creation?’ He replied, ‘Abu Razin, does not each of you see the moon?’ Ibn Mu‘adh’s version adds, ‘alone with it on the night of the full moon?’ The two versions then agree: I said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘Allah is greater.’ Ibn Mu‘adh’s version adds: ‘It is only one of Allah’s creations, while Allah is more glorious and greater.’
