Sunan Abi Dawud 4747

Hannad ibn al-Sari narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from al-Mukhtar ibn Fulful, who said: I heard Anas ibn Malik say: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) dozed briefly, then raised his head smiling. Either he said to them, or they said to him, ‘Messenger of Allah, why are you smiling?’ He replied, ‘A surah has just been revealed to me.’ He recited, ‘In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful: “Indeed, We have granted you al-Kawthar,”’ to the end of the surah. After reciting it, he asked, ‘Do you know what al-Kawthar is?’ They replied, ‘Allah and His Messenger know best.’ He said, ‘It is a river my Lord, Mighty and Majestic, has promised me in Paradise. It contains abundant good. Above it is a basin to which my community will come on the Day of Resurrection, and its vessels are as numerous as the stars.’
