Sunan Abi Dawud 4758
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ وَمَنْدَلٌ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ، عَنْ أَبِي جَهْمٍ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ وَهْبَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم : " مَنْ فَارَقَ الْجَمَاعَةَ شِبْرًا فَقَدْ خَلَعَ رِبْقَةَ الإِسْلاَمِ مِنْ عُنُقِهِ " .
Translation
Ahmad ibn Yunus narrated to us: Zuhayr, Abu Bakr ibn ‘Ayyash, and Mandal narrated to us, from Mutarrif, from Abu Jahm, from Khalid ibn Wahban, from Abu Dharr, who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Whoever separates from the community by even a handspan has cast the bond of Islam from his neck.’
