Musaddad and Sulayman ibn Dawud said—the meaning is the same: Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from al-Mu‘alla ibn Ziyad and Hisham ibn Hassan, from al-Hasan, from Dabrah ibn Mihsan, from Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet (ﷺ), who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘You will have leaders whose conduct you will recognize and disapprove.’ Abu Dawud said: Hisham’s version adds, ‘Whoever disapproves with his tongue has acquitted himself, and whoever detests it in his heart is safe; but whoever is pleased with it and follows them…’ He was asked, ‘Messenger of Allah, shall we not kill them?’ Ibn Dawud’s version says, ‘Shall we not fight them?’ He replied, ‘No, so long as they pray.’
