Abd al-Wahhab ibn Najdah narrated to us; Abu Amr ibn Kathir ibn Dinar narrated to us, from Hariz ibn Uthman, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Awf, from al-Miqdam ibn Ma'dikarib, from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), who said: ‘Indeed, I have been given the Book and something like it along with it. Soon a well-fed man reclining on his couch will say: “Adhere to this Qur'an. Whatever you find in it that is lawful, deem lawful; and whatever you find in it that is forbidden, deem forbidden.” Indeed, the meat of domestic donkeys is not lawful for you, nor is every predator with fangs, nor property lost by a person under covenant—unless its owner has no further need of it. Whoever lodges with a people, they must offer him hospitality; if they do not, he may take from them an amount equivalent to the hospitality due to him.’
