Sunan Abi Dawud 4624
Ibn al-Muthanna and Ibn Bashshar narrated to us; they said: Mu’ammal ibn Isma‘il narrated to us; Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Ibn Awn, who said: ‘Had we known that al-Hasan’s statement would reach the extent it has, we would have written a document recording his retraction and called witnesses to attest to it. But we thought it was a word that had slipped out and would not be carried forward.’
