حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏:‏ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً، رَكِبَتِ الْبَحْرَ فَنَذَرَتْ إِنْ نَجَّاهَا اللَّهُ أَنْ تَصُومَ شَهْرًا، فَنَجَّاهَا اللَّهُ فَلَمْ تَصُمْ حَتَّى مَاتَتْ، فَجَاءَتِ ابْنَتُهَا أَوْ أُخْتُهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلمفَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَصُومَ عَنْهَا ‏.‏

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas

That a woman embarked on the sea and vowed that if Allah saved her, she would fast for a month. Allah saved her, but she did not fast until she died. Her daughter or her sister came to the Messenger of Allah, and he commanded her to fast on her behalf.
