I went out with my father on the Hajj of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and heard the people saying, "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)." I began fixing my gaze upon him, and my father drew near to him while he was upon a she-camel of his, and he had a whip like the whip of scribes. I heard the bedouins and the people saying, "The whip! The whip!" My father drew near to him and took hold of his foot.
She said: He yielded to him and stopped, and my father listened to him, saying, "O Messenger of Allah, I have made a vow that if a male child is born to me, I will slaughter a number of sheep at the top of Buwānah in a mountain pass of al-Thanāyā."
The narrator said: I do not know except that she said: Fifty.
So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Is there any of the idols in it?"
He said, "No."
He said, "Then fulfill what you have vowed to Allah."
She said: So he gathered them and began slaughtering them, but a sheep broke away from them, and he pursued it while saying, "O Allah, fulfill my vow for me." So he caught it and slaughtered it.
