كتاب سجود القرآن
Chapter 479
تَفْرِيعِ أَبْوَابِ السُّجُودِ وَكَمْ سَجْدَةٍ فِي الْقُرْآنِ
Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahim ibn al-Barqi narrated to us: Ibn Abi Maryam narrated to us: Nafi ibn Yazid informed us, from al-Harith ibn Said al-Utqi, from Abd Allah ibn Munayn—of Banu Abd Kulal—from Amr ibn al-As, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taught him fifteen prostrations in the Quran, three of them in al-Mufassal, and two prostrations in Surat al-Hajj. Abu Dawud said: It was reported from Abu al-Darda, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that there are eleven prostrations, but its chain is weak.
Ahmad ibn Amr ibn al-Sarh informed us: Ibn Wahb informed us: Ibn Lahiah informed me that Mishrah ibn Haan, Abu al-Musab, narrated to him that Uqbah ibn Amir narrated to him: I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): Are there two prostrations in Surat al-Hajj? He said: Yes, and whoever does not prostrate at them should not recite them.
Chapter 480
مَنْ لَمْ يَرَ السُّجُودَ فِي الْمُفَصَّلِ
Muhammad ibn Rafi narrated to us: Azhar ibn al-Qasim narrated to us—Muhammad said: I saw him in Mecca—Abu Qudamah narrated to us, from Matar al-Warraq, from Ikrimah, from Ibn Abbas, that since the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) moved to Medina, he did not prostrate at any passage in al-Mufassal.
Hannad ibn al-Sari narrated to us: Waki narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Dhib, from Yazid ibn Abd Allah ibn Qusayt, from Ata ibn Yasar, from Zayd ibn Thabit, who said: I recited Surat al-Najm to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he did not prostrate during it.
Ibn al-Sarh narrated to us: Ibn Wahb informed us: Abu Sakhr narrated to us, from Ibn Qusayt, from Kharijah ibn Zayd ibn Thabit, from his father, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), with the same meaning. Abu Dawud said: Zayd was leading the prayer and did not prostrate during it.
Chapter 481
مَنْ رَأَى فِيهَا السُّجُودَ
Hafs ibn Umar narrated to us: Shubah narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from al-Aswad, from Abd Allah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Surat al-Najm and prostrated during it. No one among the people remained except that he prostrated, but one man took a handful of pebbles or dust, raised it to his face, and said: This is enough for me. Abd Allah said: I later saw that man killed as an unbeliever.
Chapter 482
السُّجُودِ فِي { إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْ } وَ { اقْرَأْ }
Musaddad narrated to us: Sufyan narrated to us, from Ayyub ibn Musa, from Ata ibn Mina, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: We prostrated with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at Idha al-Samaa Inshaqqat (When the sky is split open) and Iqra bi-Ismi Rabbika alladhi Khalaq (Recite in the name of your Lord who created).
Musaddad narrated to us: al-Mutamir narrated to us, saying: I heard my father: Bakr narrated to us, from Abu Rafi, who said: I prayed the night prayer with Abu Hurayrah, and he recited Idha al-Samaa Inshaqqat (When the sky is split open) and prostrated. I asked: What is this prostration? He said: I prostrated at it behind Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him), and I will continue prostrating at it until I meet him.
Chapter 483
السُّجُودِ فِي { ص }
Musa ibn Ismail narrated to us: Wuhayb narrated to us: Ayyub narrated to us, from Ikrimah, from Ibn Abbas, who said: Sad is not among the passages requiring prostration, but I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prostrate at it.
Ahmad ibn Salih narrated to us: Ibn Wahb narrated to us: Amr—meaning Ibn al-Harith—informed me, from Ibn Abi Hilal, from Iyad ibn Abd Allah ibn Sad ibn Abi Sarh, from Abu Said al-Khudri, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Sad while on the pulpit. When he reached the prostration passage, he came down and prostrated, and the people prostrated with him. On another day he recited it, and when he reached the prostration passage, the people stirred themselves to prostrate. The Prophet said: It is only the repentance of a prophet, but I saw that you were eager to prostrate. Then he came down and prostrated, and they prostrated.
Chapter 484
فِي الرَّجُلِ يَسْمَعُ السَّجْدَةَ وَهُوَ رَاكِبٌ وَفِي غَيْرِ الصَّلاَةِ
Muhammad ibn Uthman al-Dimashqi, Abu al-Jamahir, narrated to us: Abd al-Aziz—meaning Ibn Muhammad—narrated to us, from Musab ibn Thabit ibn Abd Allah ibn al-Zubayr, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, that in the year of the Conquest the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited a passage of prostration and prostrated. Everyone prostrated, including riders and those prostrating on the ground, so much so that a rider would prostrate on his hand.
Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated to us: Yahya ibn Said narrated to us. Ahmad ibn Abi Shuaib narrated to us: Ibn Numayr narrated to us—with the same meaning—from Ubayd Allah, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite a surah to us—according to Ibn Numayr, outside the prayer—and then prostrate, and we would prostrate with him, until one of us could find no place to put his forehead.
Ahmad ibn al-Furat, Abu Masud al-Razi, informed us: Abd al-Razzaq informed us: Abd Allah ibn Umar informed us, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite the Quran to us. When he passed a prostration passage, he would say Allahu Akbar and prostrate, and we would prostrate. Abd al-Razzaq said: This hadith appealed to al-Thawri. Abu Dawud said: It appealed to him because the Prophet said Allahu Akbar.

فِيمَنْ يَقْرَأُ السَّجْدَةَ بَعْدَ الصُّبْحِ
Abd Allah ibn al-Sabbah al-Attar narrated to us: Abu Bahr narrated to us: Thabit ibn Umarah narrated to us: Abu Tamimah al-Hujaymi narrated to us, who said: When we sent the caravan—Abu Dawud said, meaning to Medina—I used to tell stories after the dawn prayer and then prostrate. Ibn Umar forbade me, but I did not stop, three times. Then he came back and said: I prayed behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and with Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman (may Allah be pleased with them), and they did not prostrate until the sun had risen.
