حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ، عَنْ بَشِيرِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ، قَالَ أَنَا أَعْلَمُ النَّاسِ، بِوَقْتِ هَذِهِ الصَّلاَةِ صَلاَةِ الْعِشَاءِ الآخِرَةِ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلميُصَلِّيهَا لِسُقُوطِ الْقَمَرِ لِثَالِثَةٍ ‏.‏

Narrated An-Nu'man ibn Bashir

I am the most knowledgeable of people regarding the time of this prayer—the latter 'Isha' prayer. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to pray it when the moon set on its third night.
