حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَبَا بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ كَانُوايَفْتَتِحُونَ الْقِرَاءَةَ بِـ ‏‏{‏ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ‏}‏ ‏.‏

‘Anas said

The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, Abu Bakr, 'Umar, and 'Uthman used to begin the recitation with "Al-hamdu lillahi Rabbi al-'alamin" (Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds).
