حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلمإِذَا دَحَضَتِ الشَّمْسُ صَلَّى الظُّهْرَ وَقَرَأَ بِنَحْوِ مِنْ ‏‏{‏ وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَى ‏}‏ وَالْعَصْرَ كَذَلِكَ وَالصَّلَوَاتِ كَذَلِكَ إِلاَّ الصُّبْحَ فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يُطِيلُهَا ‏.‏

Jabir b. samurah said

When the sun declined, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to pray the noon prayer and recite something like {By the night when it covers}, and the afternoon prayer similarly, and the prayers similarly, except for the dawn prayer, for indeed he used to prolong it.
