حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، وَابْنُ السَّرْحِ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ، يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏لاَ صَلاَةَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَقْرَأْ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ فَصَاعِدًا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ لِمَنْ يُصَلِّي وَحْدَهُ

'Ubadah b. al-Samit reported the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying

There is no prayer for the one who does not recite the Opening of the Book and something more.

Sufyan said: This applies to one who prays alone.
