When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) returned from the expedition to Khaybar, he travelled for a night. When we felt drowsiness, he halted for rest and said to Bilal, "Keep watch for us during the night." Bilal was overcome by sleep while leaning against his riding camel, and neither the Prophet (ﷺ) nor Bilal nor any of his Companions woke up until the sun struck them. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was the first of them to wake up, and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was startled and said, "O Bilal!" He replied, "The One who seized your soul seized my soul, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah!" They moved their riding camels a short distance, then the Prophet (ﷺ) performed ablution and commanded Bilal, who established the prayer for them, and he led them in the morning prayer. When he finished the prayer, he said, "Whoever forgets a prayer, let him pray it when he remembers it, for Allah the Exalted has said:
Establish the prayer for My remembrance" Yunus said: Ibn Shihab used to recite it in that manner. Ahmad said: Anbasah—meaning from Yunus—said in this tradition: "for My remembrance." Ahmad said: Al-kura means drowsiness.
