The Times Of As-Salat Sunan Abi Dawud 393
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Gabriel (upon him be peace) led me in prayer at the House twice. He prayed the noon prayer with me when the sun had passed the meridian, when it was like the strap of a sandal; he prayed the afternoon prayer with me when the shadow of everything was equal to it; he prayed the sunset prayer with me—meaning the Maghrib—when the fasting person breaks his fast; he prayed the night prayer with me when the twilight had vanished; and he prayed the dawn prayer with me when food and drink became forbidden for the fasting person.
When the next day came, he prayed the noon prayer with me when his shadow was equal to it; he prayed the afternoon prayer with me when his shadow was twice as long as it; he prayed the sunset prayer with me when the fasting person breaks his fast; he prayed the night prayer with me until the third of the night; and he prayed the dawn prayer with me, making it light.
Then he turned to me and said: O Muhammad, this is the time of the prophets before you, and the time is what is between these two times.
