(Prostrating For) Forgetfulness After The Two Prostrations (Rak'ah) Sunan Abi Dawud 1018
Translation
‘Imran b. Husain said
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave the salutation after three rak'ahs of the afternoon (Asr) prayer, then entered - according to the version of Maslamah - the apartment. A man known as al-Khirbaq, who had long arms, stood up and said to him, 'Has the prayer been shortened, O Messenger of Allah?' He came out angrily, dragging his cloak, and said, 'Is he telling the truth?' They said, 'Yes.' So he prayed that rak'ah, then gave the salutation, then prostrated two prostrations, and then gave the salutation.
