Translation
‘Abd Allah b. ‘Umar said

Umar ibn al-Khattab saw a garment of silk brocade—meaning it was sold near the door of the mosque—and said, "O Messenger of Allah, if only you would buy this and wear it on Friday and for the delegations when they come to you." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Indeed, only he who has no share in the Hereafter wears this." Afterwards, garments were brought to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and he gave Umar ibn al-Khattab a garment from them. Umar said, "You have clothed me with it, O Messenger of Allah, while you said concerning the garment of Utarid what you said?" The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "I did not clothe you with it so that you would wear it." So Umar clothed a brother of his who was a polytheist in Makkah with it.
