Sunan Abi Dawud 470
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " لاَ يَزَالُ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلاَةٍ مَا كَانَتِ الصَّلاَةُ تَحْبِسُهُ لاَ يَمْنَعُهُ أَنْ يَنْقَلِبَ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ إِلاَّ الصَّلاَةُ " .
Translation
Al-Qaʿnabi narrated to us, from Malik, from Abu al-Zinad, from al-Aʿraj, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘One of you remains in prayer as long as the prayer is what keeps him there; nothing prevents him from returning to his family except the prayer.’
