حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَابِسٍ، قَالَسَأَلَ رَجُلٌ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَشَهِدْتَ الْعِيدَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ نَعَمْ وَلَوْلاَ مَنْزِلَتِي مِنْهُ مَا شَهِدْتُهُ مِنَ الصِّغَرِ فَأَتَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم الْعَلَمَ الَّذِي عِنْدَ دَارِ كَثِيرِ بْنِ الصَّلْتِ فَصَلَّى ثُمَّ خَطَبَ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ أَذَانًا وَلاَ إِقَامَةً قَالَ ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِالصَّدَقَةِ - قَالَ - فَجَعَلَ النِّسَاءُ يُشِرْنَ إِلَى آذَانِهِنَّ وَحُلُوقِهِنَّ قَالَ فَأَمَرَ بِلاَلاً فَأَتَاهُنَّ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏.‏

'Abd al-Rahman b. 'Abis said

A man asked Ibn 'Abbas: "Did you witness the Eid prayer along with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)?" He replied: "Yes, and were it not for my status with him due to my youth, I would not have witnessed it." Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to the landmark near the house of Kathir ibn al-Salt, prayed, and then delivered the sermon without mentioning any adhan or iqamah. He then commanded giving charity. The women began pointing towards their ears and their rings, and Bilal went to them, then returned to the Prophet (ﷺ).
