Sunan Abi Dawud 478
حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي الأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ رِبْعِيٍّ، عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُحَارِبِيِّ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " إِذَا قَامَ الرَّجُلُ إِلَى الصَّلاَةِ - أَوْ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلاَ يَبْزُقْ أَمَامَهُ وَلاَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلَكِنْ عَنْ تِلْقَاءِ يَسَارِهِ إِنْ كَانَ فَارِغًا أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى ثُمَّ لْيَقُلْ بِهِ " .
Hannad ibn al-Sari narrated to us, from Abu al-Ahwas, from Mansur, from Ribʿi, from Tariq ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Muharibi, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘When a man stands for prayer—or when one of you prays—he must not spit in front of himself or to his right. Rather, he may spit to his left, if there is open space, or beneath his left foot; then let him rub it away.’
