حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ إِهَابٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الْعَدَنِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ مَعْنٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، مَوْلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ عَلَّمَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنْ أَقُولَ عِنْدَ أَذَانِ الْمَغْرِبِ ‏"‏ اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ هَذَا إِقْبَالُ لَيْلِكَ وَإِدْبَارُ نَهَارِكَ وَأَصْوَاتُ دُعَاتِكَ فَاغْفِرْ لِي ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Translation

Muʾammal ibn Ihab narrated to us: ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Walid al-ʿAdani narrated to us: al-Qasim ibn Maʿn narrated to us: al-Masʿudi narrated to us, from Abu Kathir, the freedman of Umm Salamah, from Umm Salamah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taught me to say at the call to the sunset prayer: ‘O Allah, this is the coming of Your night, the passing of Your day, and the voices of those calling You. So forgive me.’
