Ibn ‘Umar said

When the early emigrants arrived, they stayed at al-Usbah before the arrival of the Prophet (ﷺ), and Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hudhaifah, used to lead them in prayer, and he was the one with the most knowledge of the Qur'an among them. Al-Haytham added: And among them were Umar ibn al-Khattab and Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Asad.
