Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنِ الْعَلاَءِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " الصَّلاَةُ الْمَكْتُوبَةُ وَاجِبَةٌ خَلْفَ كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ بَرًّا كَانَ أَوْ فَاجِرًا وَإِنْ عَمِلَ الْكَبَائِرَ " .
Translation
Ahmad ibn Salih narrated to us: Ibn Wahb narrated to us: Muʿawiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from al-ʿAlaʾ ibn al-Harith, from Makhul, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘The prescribed prayer is an obligation behind every Muslim, righteous or wicked, even if he commits major sins.’
