حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ مَزْيَدٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي، حَدَّثَنِي الأَوْزَاعِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي مَنْ، سَمِعَ عَطَاءَ بْنَ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ أَهْلَلْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِالْحَجِّ خَالِصًا لاَ يُخَالِطُهُ شَىْءٌ فَقَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ لأَرْبَعِ لَيَالٍ خَلَوْنَ مِنْ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ فَطُفْنَا وَسَعَيْنَا ثُمَّ أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنْنَحِلَّ وَقَالَ ‏"‏ لَوْلاَ هَدْيِي لَحَلَلْتُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ ثُمَّ قَامَ سُرَاقَةُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَأَيْتَ مُتْعَتَنَا هَذِهِ أَلِعَامِنَا هَذَا أَمْ لِلأَبَدِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ بَلْ هِيَ لِلأَبَدِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ الأَوْزَاعِيُّ سَمِعْتُ عَطَاءَ بْنَ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ يُحَدِّثُ بِهَذَا فَلَمْ أَحْفَظْهُ حَتَّى لَقِيتُ ابْنَ جُرَيْجٍ فَأَثْبَتَهُ لِي

Al-Abbas bin al-Walid bin Mazid narrated to us: My father informed me: Al-Awza'i narrated to me: A man who heard Ata' bin Abi Rabah narrated to me: Jabir bin Abdullah narrated to me, saying: We assumed ihram for Hajj purely with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), with nothing mixed with it. We arrived in Makkah when four nights of Dhu al-Hijjah had passed. We performed Tawaf around the Kaaba and Sa'i between al-Safa and al-Marwah. Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) commanded us to exit ihram, and said: "If it were not for my sacrificial animal, I would have exited ihram." Then Suraqah bin Malik stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah, is this temporary nature of our enjoyment (Tamattu) for this year only, or is it forever?" The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Nay, it is forever." Al-Awza'i said: I heard Ata' bin Abi Rabah narrating this, but I did not fully memorize it until I met Ibn Jurayj, and he confirmed it for me.
