حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الأَنْبَارِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلماضْطَبَعَ فَاسْتَلَمَ وَكَبَّرَ ثُمَّ رَمَلَ ثَلاَثَةَ أَطْوَافٍ وَكَانُوا إِذَا بَلَغُوا الرُّكْنَ الْيَمَانِيَ وَتَغَيَّبُوا مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ مَشَوْا ثُمَّ يَطْلُعُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ يَرْمُلُونَ تَقُولُ قُرَيْشٌ كَأَنَّهُمُ الْغِزْلاَنُقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فَكَانَتْ سُنَّةً

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas

The Prophet (ﷺ) placed his upper garment under his right armpit and over his left shoulder, touched [the Black Stone], said the takbir, and then did ramal for three circuits. Whenever they reached the Yemeni corner and were concealed from the Quraysh, they walked normally, but when they emerged before them, they did ramal. The Quraysh would say, "They look like mountain gazelles." Ibn Abbas said, "So it became a Sunnah."
