حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، أَنَّ أَبَا مُعَاوِيَةَ، وَحَفْصَ بْنَ غِيَاثٍ، حَدَّثَاهُ - وَحَدِيثُ أَبِي مُعَاوِيَةَ، أَتَمُّ - عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَ صَلَّى عُثْمَانُ بِمِنًى أَرْبَعًا فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِصَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ عُمَرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِزَادَ عَنْ حَفْصٍ وَمَعَ عُثْمَانَ صَدْرًا مِنْ إِمَارَتِهِ ثُمَّ أَتَمَّهَا ‏.‏ زَادَ مِنْ هَا هُنَا عَنْ أَبِي مُعَاوِيَةَ ثُمَّ تَفَرَّقَتْ بِكُمُ الطُّرُقُ فَلَوَدِدْتُ أَنَّ لِي مِنْ أَرْبَعِ رَكَعَاتٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ مُتَقَبَّلَتَيْنِ ‏.‏ قَالَ الأَعْمَشُ فَحَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ قُرَّةَ عَنْ أَشْيَاخِهِ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى أَرْبَعًا قَالَ فَقِيلَ لَهُ عِبْتَ عَلَى عُثْمَانَ ثُمَّ صَلَّيْتَ أَرْبَعًا قَالَ الْخِلاَفُ شَرٌّ ‏.‏

Narrated 'Abd al-Rahman b. Zaid

'Uthman prayed four rak'ahs at Mina. 'Abd Allah said: I prayed two rak'ahs along with the Prophet (ﷺ), two rak'ahs along with Abu Bakr, and two rak'ahs along with 'Umar. Hafs's version added: And along with 'Uthman during the early period of his caliphate, then he completed it. Abu Mu'awiyah's version added from this point: Then your paths diverged, and I would love to have two accepted rak'ahs out of my four rak'ahs.

Al-A'mash said: Mu'awiyah ibn Qurrah reported to me from his teachers that 'Abd Allah prayed four rak'ahs. He said: It was asked of him, "You criticized 'Uthman, yet you prayed four?" He replied, "Dissent is evil."
