By Allah, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) did not make Aisha perform 'umrah during Dhu'l-Hijjah except to put an end to the practice of the polytheists. For this tribe of Quraysh and those who followed their religion used to say: When the camel's fur grows thick, the camel's back heals from sores, and Safar begins, 'umrah becomes permissible for one who performs 'umrah. Thus, they used to consider 'umrah unlawful until Dhu'l-Hijjah and al-Muharram had passed.
