Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Faris narrated to us: Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, from Mamar, from Qatadah, from Nasr ibn Asim, from Khalid ibn Khalid al-Yashkuri, with this report. He said: I asked, “After the sword, will anything remain?” He replied, “A remnant with specks in it, and a truce with rancor beneath it.” Then he related the rest of the report. Qatadah applied this to the apostasy that occurred during the time of Abu Bakr. He explained aqdha as specks, hudnah as truce, and dakhan as rancor.
