Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، وَكَثِيرُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ، حَدَّثَنِي بِشْرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، قَالَ عَمْرٌو حَدَّثَنِي عُبَادَةُ بْنُ نُسَىٍّ، عَنْ جُنَادَةَ بْنِ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ، نَحْوَ هَذَا الْخَبَرِ - وَالأَوَّلُ أَتَمُّ - فَقُلْتُ مَا تَرَى فِيهَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ " جَمْرَةٌ بَيْنَ كَتِفَيْكَ تَقَلَّدْتَهَا " . أَوْ " تَعَلَّقْتَهَا " .
Translation
A similar report was transmitted from Ubadah ibn al-Samit through another chain, though the first report is more complete. In this version I asked, Messenger of Allah, what do you think of it? He replied: It is a live coal around your neck or hanging from you.
