Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 1052

Tha‘labah ibn Abi Malik al-Qurazi said: I rode to Abdullah ibn Suwayd of Banu Haritha ibn al-Harith to ask him about the three private times, which he observed. He asked, “What do you want?” I said, “I want to observe them.” He said: “When I take off my clothes at midday, none of my family who has reached puberty may enter upon me without my permission, unless I call them; my calling them is their permission. Nor may anyone enter at dawn, when people begin to stir, until the prayer has been performed. Nor may anyone enter after I have prayed the night prayer and taken off my clothes, until I sleep.”
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The second private-time clause is terse in the Arabic; it is rendered as the period from dawn activity until the prayer is performed.
The Arabic says “until the prayer is performed”; the witness adds that people must know he has prayed.
Should the added knowledge condition be removed?
