Musa narrated to us. He said: Abd al-Wahid narrated to us. He said: Abu Burda ibn Abd Allah ibn Abi Burda narrated to us, saying: I heard Abu Burda relate from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ‘A person under authority receives a double reward when he fulfills Allah’s due in his worship—or he said, in worshipping Him well—and the due of his master who owns him.’
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The Arabic includes an explicit wording alternative: ‘in his worship’ or ‘in worshipping Him well.’ Both are retained.
The narrator reports two possible phrasings of the worship clause.
Should both transmitted wordings remain in the final translation?
