‘Asim ibn ‘Ali narrated to us, saying: Ibn Abi Dhi’b narrated to us, from ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Sa’ib, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace—meaning, he said: “Let none of you take his companion’s belongings, whether in jest or in earnest. If one of you takes his companion’s stick, let him return it to him.”’
