حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم: إِيَّاكُمْ وَالشُّحَّ، فَإِنَّهُ أَهْلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ، سَفَكُوا دِمَاءَهُمْ، وَقَطَعُوا أَرْحَامَهُمْ، وَالظُّلْمُ ظُلُمَاتٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ.

‘Abd al-‘Aziz said: al-Walid ibn Muslim related to us, from Abu Rafi‘, from Sa‘id al-Maqburi, from his father, from Abu Hurayra, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Beware of extreme greed, for it destroyed those before you: they shed one another’s blood and severed their ties of kinship. Injustice will be layers of darkness on the Day of Resurrection.”
