حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ، عَنْ ثَوْرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْغَيْثِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم: السَّاعِي عَلَى الأَرْمَلَةِ وَالْمَسَاكِينِ كَالْمُجَاهِدِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، وَكَالَّذِي يَصُومُ النَّهَارَ وَيَقُومُ اللَّيْلَ.

Isma'il related to us: Malik told me, from Thawr ibn Zayd, from Abu al-Ghayth, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: ‘One who strives to support widows and the poor is like one who strives in the way of Allah, and like one who fasts by day and stands in prayer by night.’
