Abu Musa reported that he was with the Prophet ﷺ in one of the gardens of Madinah. The Prophet had a stick in his hand with which he was striking the water and mud. A man came asking for the gate to be opened, and the Prophet said, “Open it for him and give him the good news of Paradise.” I went and found Abu Bakr, so I opened it for him and gave him the good news of Paradise. Then another man asked for it to be opened, and the Prophet said, “Open it for him and give him the good news of Paradise.” It was Umar, so I opened it and gave him the good news. Then another man asked for it to be opened. The Prophet had been reclining, but sat up and said, “Open it for him and give him the good news of Paradise, along with a trial that will befall him—or come to pass.” I went and found Uthman. I opened it for him and told him what the Prophet had said. He replied, “Allah is the One whose help is sought.”
