Abu al-Zinad said: Kharija used to write in Zayd’s letter when he greeted him: “Peace be upon you, Commander of the Believers, and Allah’s mercy, blessings, forgiveness, and the goodness of His prayers.”
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The syntax of the report’s opening is compressed; the translation follows the apparent sense that Kharija wrote this greeting in Zayd’s letter.
طَيِّبُ means good or wholesome; “the best” is not explicit.
Should this phrase be rendered as “the goodness of His prayers”?
