Haywah ibn Shurayh narrated to us, saying: Baqiyyah narrated to us, from Bahir, from Khalid, from al-Miqdam ibn Ma‘di Karib, that he heard the Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and grant him peace, say: “Whatever you feed yourself is charity for you; whatever you feed your child is charity for you; whatever you feed your wife is charity for you; and whatever you feed your servant is charity for you.”

Sadaqah is rendered as ‘charity’ here; the translation preserves the report’s repeated application of the term to each act of feeding.
