Ishaq related to us: Baqiyyah related to us, from Muslim ibn Ziyad, the client of Maymunah, wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who said: I heard Anas ibn Malik say: The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Whoever says in the morning, “O Allah, we have entered the morning calling You to witness, and calling the bearers of Your Throne, Your angels, and all Your creation to witness that You are Allah—there is no god but You alone, with no partner, and that Muhammad is Your servant and Messenger,” Allah will free one quarter of him from the Fire that day. Whoever says it twice, Allah will free half of him from the Fire. Whoever says it four times, Allah will free him from the Fire that day.’

Notes and open questions — unreviewed

The Arabic names Muslim ibn Ziyad as the transmitter and describes him as the client of Maymunah; the English witness incorrectly attributes the report to Maymunah.

Should the transmission through Muslim ibn Ziyad remain explicit, as in this translation?

The Arabic expresses freeing a quarter of the person, with the Fire specified in the following clauses; the exact idiomatic English may warrant review.

Is ‘free one quarter of him from the Fire’ the clearest rendering of
